Well I felt like I needed to post a update. Yes I know I have been gone for a bit, but for good reason. First this will be one of the last posts under this website, no the project is not stopping but site for the blog is getting revamped and allot of things will be added. I haven’t had much of a chance to make the transformation. Don’t worry you won’t miss anything, the appropriate measures will be taken so the transition will be seamless.

Okay why are these changes coming? Well over the last month the project stepped into what I like to call the “EGG”, as thisEgg. thisEgg represents the incubation of the project and it conveniently is the name of the team that is working on the project. There are two major things that have change, one the name, code name Desktop 2.0 will no longer be called Widgemagic (market research came back as “childish”), unfortunately you will have to wait till the launch of the official site before you see the new name of the software (sorry!!). Second thing is we are stretching the release date. April 1st is what we wanted, but the reality with good software is that deadlines are never met unless you have bundles of money like Apple to make deadlines. Anyhow, don’t fret the wait is worth it, trust me.

So for now I leave you with, “till next time”

Cheers

Thinnovation

The Worlds Thinnest Notebook, thats what he called it, and damn is Steve right. I must say it is impressive, and I want one, in due time. But the biggest announcement today was Time Capsule in my mind. Most would disagree, but I think it is for the everyday home the best solution for extra storage, backup, and a wireless network. It can only get better in one way, by introducing Time Tv Capsule, but lets not get too insane. Oh in the event it does come out Steve, I said it here first. So give credit when credit is due, lol. Anyhow I can’t say I was disappointed, the expo was as always, exciting and excellent. Lets face it people, you can’t have an iPhone come out every year. Which reminds me, no address to the Canadian arrival? Steve it hurts so bad, please release me from my dungeon. So I was wrong about my prediction of release info and the docking station, but I would not rule out either of them in the upcoming months, at least for the iPhone part.

If you want to see the full keynote speech visit this link. Well I’m off again, so till this weekend update don’t forget to brush your teeth.

P.S. I am on my third IT job since the summer, but I believe I found a place to call home. More on that later.

Be Back Soon
Well it all started with this photo. And if you know anything about Apple, it is a well known sign of an event to take place. This event just happens to be the Grand Daddy. I don’t think of myself as to much of a commercial whore, but I have fallen into the web of Steve Jobs and his band of computer wielding henchman. I write this while doing some multitasking. What I mean is I am coding at work, watching the expo and writing my first Macworld blog entry. My predictions, iPhone in Canada, multi touch sub Notebook(Macbook Air), and a docking station to put it in. Later tonight I will write what we have experienced.

MacworldWell tonight I did some structure work on Desktop 2.0. Alot of things up in the air, which I’m not pleased about, but what can you do. I am working on multiple things at one time to efficiently code related items. It’s been tough, alot of thought goes into it. Next weekend will give me a better idea of time lines. On a brighter note, Macworld is around the corner and there are rumors galore, but the only thing I want to hear is iPhones Canadian release, well it might not happen, which would suck, but I have faith. Okay I lied, I am looking forward to the whole thing because I know that no matter what happens, its going to be good. Not to mention watching Steve captivate the world and me is always fun. As always http://www.macrumors.com/ will give a list of sites that will keep you informed about the Keynote(can’t wait for the day it is LIVE!!).

gOSWell after 2 days my Blog is back up and running, and seems much faster, which was the whole point of the hosting company switching location….. so they are forgiven. Just in time, I wanted to talk about a new Operating System, well not really new but one that is stable, secure and easy to use(which are none of Windows traits). Did I mention it’s free, thats right, FREE!!! So for your hard earned free dollar bill you can download and install a what looks to be an awesome OS. But wait, I couldn’t install it on my moms shat laptop, well no surprise, her laptop has 256 in memory and a Dvd rom that can’t read shit. Okay this is a good OS if you have a half decent PC. Now I’m sure that a normal laptop will be fine, but it’s my moms, and well, enough said. Now I would never use it myself, and I have tried it on Parallels, and its fine to use for the person that doesn’t do much more than the average bear, but for a person like me or other programmer, well it just doesn’t cut it. So, for all my friends that use there PCs for Facebook, and Messenger, you need this OS. That way I don’t have to fix your “PC” everytime it breaks. LOL. So go check out

Well I decided to bash my hosting company tonight because my blog is broken. I am still working on it myself, but I think this may be an issue with them… (I hope). Anyhow, 2 days ago, they informed me that they are relocating the farm. Everything went smoothly, except for my blog. Of course!! Lets cross our fingers.

Many haven’t noticed and if you have probably don’t care about my Get a Mac page. Well you should. Why, well because Macs are better and if anything can convince you that you need one, its Mac and PC in a cheesy video pointing out who is better. For the Mac user, we watch and laugh. For the PC users, they watch and laugh, but then cry in the inside. But enough of “Mac kicks PC’s ass” stuff, and to the real reason why I started this entry, I have come to a point of building a Drag & Drop System for Desktop 2.0. Yes thats right GUI will reign supreme!! The Drag and drop system will be to interact with the users system and within the program itself, so I decided to first implement this skill on a test subject…. “THE GET A MAC PAGE”. Right now the videos vertically align down the blog page, very stupid, you can blame my laziness for this. But now the Get a Mac page will have a Cover Flow style Drag & Drop Video Player. This will be a first look at just some features Desktop 2.0 will have. Stay tuned, and I hope you like.

Cheers

After writing my entry today, me and Renee laid down for a nap. We were exhausted. My mother woke us up to drive her to work, and as I woke I was slightly remembering a dream I had about work and old jobs in the past. I know sounds weird. I bet your asking, where are you going with this. Well there was one event on my Xmas holiday in Banff that I left out, and for good reason. It was a car accident. I was not part of this accident, but some how feel apart of it along with many others who would have felt the same while driving past the accident site. While driving out of Calgary we were just talking about how excited we were to see Oliver, when we noticed that the traffic started to slow down. Like usual, I started whining about what was keeping everyone, and what could be possibly wasting my time. Renee being curious, like she always is, phoned the Calgary traffic line and found out that there was an accident in that area we were driving, and the QE 2 was backed up for miles. I all of a sudden came to my senses and calm down. Here I was on Boxing day getting upset at traffic while others were struggling with there very own lives.

As we drove past the accident, we could see only two vehicles, one of which was in pretty bad shape, we thought about it for a bit and then continued on our way home. I started of mentioning how I woke up this evening. It wasn’t till then that I started thinking again about the accident, and had the urge to find out its outcome. Three people died, and one in critical condition. As I read the below story from Calgary Ctv, I couldn’t help but feel lucky that we were the ones today to make it home one more time. No matter what may have caused this accident, it is never a nice thing to hear about, especially this time of the year. I guess the message I am trying to get across here is, never take for granted what you have to enjoy, and the people you have to enjoy it with. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends that will be forever damaged by this accident. We can only hope in time there wounds can heal, and that this misfortune does not fall upon others more often than not. This Christmas has truly shown me through the misfortune of others, to never forget to always be the best person you can be, and live each day to its fullest. I hope with out having a similar experience, you can do the same.

“Police are investigating a deadly collision on the QE2 Highway. Just after 11 am, a small northbound SUV lost control, crossed the median and hit a southbound pick-up truck. The SUV ended up on its roof. Two people riding in the vehicle died on the scene. The driver was airlifted to a Calgary hospital, while a fourth passenger was taken to the Didsbury hospital with minor injuries. An 83-year-old male passenger in the pick up truck also died at the scene. RCMP officials say the man was not wearing a seatbelt. The force of the collision didn’t deploy the airbags in the pick-up truck. The driver of that vehicle survived but the man in the passenger seat hit the windshield with his head and died. Police say road conditions were poor at the time of the crash and that may have played a part in the collision. The collision aftermath forced the closure of some north and south bound lanes of the QE2 for several hours.”

Banff for Xmas anyone? Well of course. We had an amazing time, and I got a break from coding for awhile. This time of year is always good time to relax and take a break, so we did. Banff is where we ended up the year to celebrate the holidays and it was compliments of Renee’s family(which at this point I guess is mine as well). It was a Romantic getaway for the two of us, and we got to spend some alone time away from the hussle and bussle of our normal lives. Yes relaxing it was, but that being said, I also felt sometimes I was in a alternate reality. I have three different stories, to explain my alternate reality, well two I guess, the last is simply a complement to a restaurant.

Midget EscalatorLets begin, the first story is my run in with the Midget Escalator, I could be wrong but I believe it could be the only one in the world, but it should defiantly not be. I think these Ridiculas Escalators should be every where. I would love one installed in my place, and i don’t even have a second floor, but then again I wouldn’t need a second floor, I could simply use it to raise myself to a cupboard or something. To the rest of you out there, this may not seem like a big deal to you, but it was to me, and for the first time I can’t even explain why. Its just one of those things. And one of those things happened again, which leads me to my second story.

$15 Boutique The $15 Boutique is like the dollar store but instead of everything being a dollar, you guessed it, its $15. I know at least most of you must see the humor in this. Why would you settle on $15, what make a person who is about to open a store decide that everything that is in it will be sold for a $15. i like to consider myself a somewhat logical person, i fail to see the logic, so much in fact I believe that I will be debating it for years to come.

Is Banff a alternate reality for me? Who knows. Are these things normal to the rest of you, or am I just losing my mind. I would never admit to it, even if i was losing my mind, but I think this is just a case of “very interesting individuals flocking together in a quiet mountain town(South Park) to drive people like me to othe brink of insanity”. Ha, they can’t drive me insane.

Lat but not least, I can not leave out something that sticks out in my head so vividly. The most amazing pasta dish ever. Yes, i know this is simply a matter of opinion, but I kid you not, do not ever leave Banff if you are there with out trying the Fettuccini Pollo - “Chicken breast, butternut squash, spinach, alfredo style cream sauce” . You can find this dish at Giorgio’s Trattoria. So wrapping up my two day vacation to Banff for Xmas experience, Two Thumbs Up.

It will be back to business as usual, major layouts of Desktop 2.0 will be concluding over the next couple of weeks, so I will be posting more information shortly, till next time, this is Mr Markup Language signing off!

Happy Holidays

Oliver the refugeeUnfortunately we won’t have anything to say this weekend about Widgemagic, due to Me, Renee, and Oliver being on the lamb. we have been pointed out as barking criminals in our apartment complex. So in the best interest of the 3 of us, we have decided to get a new place to call home, and this weekend will be the transplant. But after next weekend we will give you an update of what is going on. Also keep the eyes pealed for the Xmas theme background.
